It’s an Egg-cellent contest!! These eggs are not just for Easter but for decorating all springtime long.

I made an assortment of bright and fun mod podge fabric eggs. I call them “GLAMOUR EGGS!! Because they are frilly and have a touch of bling! I got the idea from the DIY Dish.com. Kim and Kris always have such adorable ideas. You should check them out. They are my new favorite place!

I used fabric from charm packs torn in strips and then I embellished them with ribbon, gems, and scrapbook accents. On this plate they almost look good enough to eat.

This style has a gathered ribbon ruffle rosette with a gem in the middle.

This one has a skinny ribbon butterfly bow on end with a scrapbook flower accent in the center.

I gave away 4 packs of assorted “GLAMOUR EGGS” to family and friends last week and they liked them so much that I decided to offer a package of 4 as a giveaway to you.

Good Luck! And HApPy SPrInG!!

Had such a great day out in the sunshine, pruning my roses!

The flower beds always look so bare. I only did a few today. I will need to work a little every day to finish in time. I have over 70 rose bushes! Yikes!

Can you believe the size of my rosemary bush?? It’s HUGE and it smells like heaven!

I love the sweet little flowers that bloom on it this time of year.

I even got one last bouquet. It will really brighten up my Sunday dinner table tomorrow.

Well, I had to face it. Spring is nearly gone and Summer is only a couple of weeks away. So I thought to myself that I should probably take down my sweet little bunny plates, cups, baskets, bowls and tea sets from my kitchen shelf. Spring, Easter and Bunnies are probably now out of season. Time does fly by quickly. I guess its time for Summer, Sunflowers, watering cans and blue birds. And HEAT!! Let’s not forget the HOT, HOT weather that is ahead. Yikes! I guess I will have to be sure and enjoy each and every cool California day.

What do you put out for the summer months?? What decor do you change??

Share with us!!

It starts with a lovely pink vintage tablecloth of red roses and pink hydrangeas. Add some very pretty dishes with a delicate cottage rose design.

Of course there should be fresh cut roses from the garden, displayed in a old English vintage pitcher.

A perfect setting for a delightful brunch, an English tea luncheon or just a fun get together with the girls. This was my Mothers Day table scape this year and  I figured since I am the only woman in my house,  I’m going to go for sweet and feminine. It was a fun and lovely Sunday for me, spent with my family!

Try using cottage pink and shabby roses for your next get together!

This was the table scape for our family Easter dinner this year. Not so much of my usual vintage style decor, because I was looking for super EASY!! My dishwasher blew up a couple of months ago. So, we all decided to go the paper plate route. And because I really don’t like doing dishes I agreed.

I began with my creamy white tablecloth and my vintage yellow linen table runner. Then I used pretty pink large plates with a fun, cute green Easter print salad plate on top. Then I found some sweet pastel polka dot napkins. I thought it looked pretty festive! And yes, I still used the gold flatware! I’m not crazy about plastic forks, etc.

Here’s a closer look. You can also see the fun pastel buckets I put in a row down the middle of the table for the centerpiece. Each bucket has a decoupage’ vintage style scene of a old fashion bunny or chick. So adorable!! Then they were each filled with lots and lots of candy!! Mostly chocolate! That’s right chocolate. If you’re going to do Easter candy it had better be chocolate in my house! Every one at the dinner took one home for a mini Easter basket treat.

And last but not least…. what is Easter with out dyed eggs!! And let me tell you these eggs were DYED!! I know because I’m the one who dyed them and let me just say that, if you put the eggs in the dye and walk away for several hours, they really turn out quite BRIGHT!! I have never done that before, but if you’d like super bright eggs next year. I say GO FOR IT!!

Anyway, I hope that your Easter holiday was wonderful and thanks for stopping by. Next year I’ll try to do more shabby, more cottage and definitely more vintage!

My best to all!

Chris

I’m not sure why, but I love to decorate my table for all different occasions and for all different reasons. So, for our dinner on New Years Day I decided to go “Chinese”!! I purchased some red paper food containers and some fortune cookies and the rest of the stuff I already had on hand. It’s fun to just kind of pull things from all over (or your stash) and make some thing really colorful and unique!!

The center piece has 3 red containers down the middle of the table. A  lovely spider plant in the middle with horns and streamers added for the festivities. Two containers on each side filled with fortune cookies. I had a couple of bright, fun paper plates that had kind of an oriental floral print on them that I had purchased at “Tuesday Morning” with matching napkins that I used in the centerpiece and at each place setting. I also scattered lots of streamers, poppers and candy  all around. This time I just used a simple white table cloth, but I think that it really made the colors pop!

Here is a sample of my place settings, pretty simple but still lots of charm. These are plates I had bought a year ago at “Big Lots” for an Italian dinner party, but gosh don’t they look cute for a Chinese New Year theme?

Did you know that Chinese New Year is on January 26th and that 2009 is the year of the Ox?? Hey, it was news to me! Well, anyway we had a yummy dinner and afterward we all chose a fortune cookie and shared our fortunes with everyone. Kind of a fun idea.

Here’s an areal view for ya. It was not hard at all to pull together, but it just takes a little extra effort to “pay attention to the details”! Who is it that says that? Is it Sandra Lee from Semi Homemade? Or someone else? I can’t remember.

Oh well, hope that you enjoyed the pics.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

I was watching a design show on one of the cable channels the other day. It’s the one where designers compete for the title of “DESIGN STAR”. It was the episode where the designers task was to re-do country singer Sara Evans hotel suite in a “Shabby Chic” or “Country Cottage ” style. I was very intrigued and excited because I really love both of those design styles. Well, I won’t recount the whole show and all its events, but I will say that the “Professional” designers aka “Judges” pretty much let it be known, that these two design styles are not really even styles at all. I was kinda shocked and stunned!! I must say that it did offend me a bit!! ( Don’t worry I’ll get over it!) I don’t really understand why on these design shows you must either be contemporary, modern, or traditional. There seems to be no room for anything else.  I mean what about English or French Country style? What about a Romantic or Garden style? I guess that they wouldn’t be crazy about those either. I was delighted that Sara Evans liked the soft lovely “Shabby” kind of style. I bet if you asked successful designer Rachel Ashwell she’d say that “Shabby Chic” was a very wonderful style.

Just a thought… What do you think?

HAPPY 4th of JULY everyone!!

What a wonderful day to think of all our freedoms and blessings. What a wonderful day to think about all the brave men and women who serve and protect our great country!! THANK YOU ALL!!

It’s also a great day for decorating and breaking out all our red, white and blue. Be sure to fly the flag!!

For doll and bear collectors it’s always fun to dress our special little treasures in holiday wear. So, I decided to make a fun table scape by using my sweet bear friend “Bear-stie Ross” to help celebrate Independence Day!

It’s really fun to dress these cute bears and dolls in vintage baby clothing. This little bear is wearing an adorable 1950’s red cotton dress with white collar and cuffs and the most terrific white smocking across the chest.

Tie a sweet bow on her head and cluster birdhouses, flowers, and of course lots of flags and you’ve got a very amazing and unique centerpiece. Your family and friends will be very impressed. And you can have a great excuse to show off that darling doll or bear that you love so much. This kind of display would be perfect for your buffet table, coffee table, a picnic table, an entry way, on your front or back porch, or anywhere you’d like to add a little holiday spirit.

Remember vintage clothing always makes dressing your bear, doll or baby and memorable experience.

So think VINTAGE!!
