Well, not like a real feature or anything, but “Curby’s Closet” is in the “Lollishops” ad. It’s a really darling ad and the magazine is wonderful! Somerset Life has amazing pictures, great articles and “how to’s” and the artwork and layout is divine!!

I know that it may not be a big deal to many of you who have been featured in magazines before, but just humor me, cuz it’s a really BIG DEAL to me!!

Here is my sweet little OOAK Valentine Dress that is featured in the ad. (sold only in my Lollishop store) It is so darling! It’s a size 12-18 months. It is a 1970’s white dress with tiny red Valentine hearts on it. I embellished it with two very sweet vintage hankies and red polka dot ribbon.
Can’t you just picture your little “SWEETHEART” toddling or crawling around in it??

Whether you have a baby girl to buy a Valentine dress for or not. I would love to hear your feedback.

What do you have planned for your holiday table this year? Are you looking for a few last minute table scape ideas? Well, take a look at the one I did for our Christmas dinner.
I love mixing gold, cream and red with splashes of other Christmas colors. I must confess that most of the decorations that I use are vintage style ones I’ve collected for years, or new ones that I’ve purchased from T.J Maxx, Home Goods and Marshalls. Most are lovely designer pieces, but at terrific discount prices. That’s the way I love to shop!

I began layering of course (I love layered tables) with a beautiful heavy gold and cream linen tablecloth from Home Goods and then added a gold silk table runner down the center with a red velvet circular table topper in the middle. I really think that it’s fun to blend different colors and textures on a table. Next, I carefully got out my vintage holiday china, matching holiday goblets and gold flatware and went to work on creating a festive centerpiece.

I found this lovely vase with Santa working in his workshop at T.J. Maxx for $3.99!! Can you believe it? And it is really well made. (looks like a Fritz and Floyd) Anyway, I decided to fill it with huge rose buds of red and cream. They were so lovely and so fragrant. They came with the greenery and the baby’s breath too!
I decided to really jazz it up a bit, by adding a long strand of garland made with faux pearls and then scattered tiny vintage holiday ornaments around. It really helped the centerpiece to pop! On each side of the centerpiece I added my vintage brass candle sticks and red candles. I absolutely love lit candles for special dinners don’t you?

Now on to the napkins and favors! I found some pretty gold silk/nylon napkins at Marshalls and then I added a sweet old fashioned vintage glass style ornament for each guest to take home. They were simply attached with a soft lovely red ribbon.

For a nice finishing touch I tied holiday ribbon bows to each chair, so that everything would have a special look and feel for my festive Christmas dinner.
I hope that taking a look at some of my ideas have helped to spark your creative thoughts and maybe you will try incorporating some of your special vintage pieces mixed with some new ones this year on your holiday table!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Last week “Curby’s Closet” had it’s first TRUNK SHOW!! It was SO FUN and was hosted at the lovely home of my sweet friend Heather. She was so accomidating and it was a great evening. I brought with me my good friend Melissa (seems like we’ve known each other forever) to give me a hand. She is awesome!! She even brought a yummy Apple crisp for refreshments. How wonderful was that?

We set up the house with racks of all the soft, sweet, beautiful vintage baby dresses. I also brought with me my NEW Vintage Style Quilted Baby Shoes. They were a hit! They looked so adorable on the little baby feet! I brought my mothers Baby Blankets (they are always crowd pleasers) and some teddy bears dressed in vintage clothing too.
Take a look at the photos below and you can get a feel for what the evening looked like.

Heather has wonderful friends and it was a delight to meet each of them and to see them love and appreciate the vintage clothing. The dresses are lovely in the photos, but they are “to die for” in person. The soft colors and the delicate detail work on these heirloom pieces is just fantastic!! Many are handmade and have been preserved so well it is just amazing! To me each piece has a sweet history of decades or of times gone by.

I will be adding many of these dresses, shoes and blankets on my ETSY STORE this week. So please feel free to take a look. Most of my clothing is from Newborn to 9 months, but I do sell some things for 12mo. to 2T. So keep checking back things change and sell all the time.

For those of you who have online stores or little businesses. You might want to try home “TRUNK SHOWS” they are very fun and profitable. It’s always a plus to do all you can to get your name out there and to show your products to your customers. It sure was for me, and thanks to Heather and Melissa… we were able to pull off a great one!! Thanks gals so much!! I love ya!

I am so excited to have my “Silver Bella” press kits finished and mailed off to Sadie of “Lollishops” fame!! I am told that Silver Bella is an amazing once a year huge craft show. It’s the ticket EVERYBODY wants or wishes to have right now. I believe that the guest speaker this year is Mary Engelbreit. Pretty cool huh? I would love to meet her. Anyway, I was one of 50 vendors to be able to make 10 press kits for Sadie to give out at Silver Bella to promote “Lollishops” and the 50 vendors!!
I thought that this was a wonderful opportunity and was so happy to be a part of it. I included my original design, vintage style quilted baby shoes for each kit and then added “Curby’s Closet” magnets, some vintage lace and a photo card showing samples of “Curby’s Closet” vintage baby clothes. They were fun to make and I thought that you might like to take a peek!!!
I wish I knew which 10 people will be getting mine. Hmmm maybe I will!! Would you want one?

Remember: “LOLLISHOPS” will be opening in Nov. so mark your calendars and check back here at “Curby’s Closet” for the Grand Opening date!! It will be a fantastic shopping experience and your gonna love it!!
